Small equipment grant success - heavy duty hose available to share
East Ballina Landcare has been successful in an application lodged last July for a Commonwealth Government Department of Family and Community Services Small Equipment grant. The $900-plus grant is earmarked for purchasing a substantial length of heavy-duty fabric hose with brass fittings, for use in irrigating isolated sites that have been planted. The 38mm diameter hose is of durable and flexible 'firehose' standard, easily rolled up and transportable, and not liable to kinks, cracks or knots as happens with plastic garden hose. This valuable asset will be available to be shared with other groups in the district.
Regular and occasional volunteers are always needed to help with this work. No experience is needed and all skills are acquired through doing the job. Those interested should phone 6681 3557 for information about how to become a Dunecarer.
