Funding

The Australian Government National Landcare Programme will invest $1 billion over the next four years to help drive sustainable agriculture as well as supporting the protection, conservation and rehabilitation of Australia’s natural environment.
The National Landcare Programme merges previous funding initiatives into one simple programme that puts Landcare back at the centre of natural resource management.
Across Australia, the National Landcare Programme will support sustainable land management practices to deliver long-term benefits to our communities, our environment, our economy and our country.
Caring for our Country was an initiative that offered multi-year funding to provide certainty for stakeholders. The Australian Government announced that Caring for our Country would be combined with the National Landcare Programme in 2013. The National Landcare Programme is continuing to deliver upon initiatives that were in place before 1 July 2014.

Coastcare is community volunteers caring for their coast. Coastcare volunteers identify local environmental problems and work together to achieve practical solutions. There are currently 2,000 Coastcare groups all around the country.
Coastcare and landcare groups tackle problems like dune erosion, loss of native plants and animals, storm water pollution, weeds and control of human access to sensitive areas.
The Coastcare program provides opportunities for governments, community, business and interest groups to become actively involved in on ground works to protect and manage our coastal and marine environments.
Community groups interested in carrying out Coastcare activities can seek advice from their Regional NRM Boards about participating in regional coastal projects or seek funds.
